David Schlotterbeck, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer

David Schlotterbeck has been in the medical device industry for the past 22 years. From the beginning his primary objective has been patient safety and improved outcomes.  His initial focus was on preventing deaths from anesthesia through new monitoring techniques which later became a global standard for patient care.

In 1999, while President and CEO of Alaris Medical Systems, he began an initiative focused on improving the safe delivery of intravenous drugs and invented a new product category know now as the safest way to deliver the most dangerous drugs.

Alaris was acquired by Cardinal Health in 2004. When Mr. Schlotterbeck became Vice Chairman, he expanded his focus on hospital medication safety, offering an extensive portfolio to address all aspects of the hospital medication delivery process, organizationally becoming known as a paragon of excellence. In 2006, he added a focus on the prevention of healthcare associated infections in hospitals. He invested over $2.5bb in research and acquisitions to build the most comprehensive global portfolio in infection prevention.
