VISTA, CA – July 11, 2006 –Aperio Technologies, Inc., the leading provider of digital pathology systems to the Healthcare IT industry, today unveils the ScanScope® GL, an entry-level slide scanning system for pathologists, at the Annual Meeting of the Association of Pathology Chairs in Colorado Springs, CO.

“The ScanScope GL offers an unprecedented combination of image quality and scanning speed, at an entry-level price. Our engineering team has once again set a new standard for the industry,” said Dirk Soenksen, CEO of Aperio. “We believe the GL system will be particularly appealing to pathology educators and others who have realized the benefits of digital slide technology and are ready to get started.”

The ScanScope GL system complements Aperio’s feature-rich, ultra-fast ScanScope CS model as well as the company’s other high-capacity ScanScope systems. The GL system utilizes the same proven, patented line-scanning technology that is found in these higher-end systems. With the GL system, a single slide can be loaded and scanned, automatically, with a 20X objective lens. The GL system is based on a modular design that supports hardware and software upgrades and accommodates a variety of entry-level needs and budgets.

“The ScanScope GL rounds out our product line of world-class slide scanning systems,” added Soenksen. “Aperio is now better positioned to address the needs of those who are ready to get started with digital pathology, while continuing to serve the needs of pathologists and other professionals wishing to expand their existing digital pathology capabilities.”

The ScanScope GL will also be exhibited in September at CAP ’06, The Pathologists Meeting, in San Diego, and is available for immediate delivery.
